WD-40

WD-40, a well-recognised and extensively utilised multi-purpose spray, is beneficial for a variety of tasks, such as the removal of dirt, extracting jammed screws and bolts, and unfastening zips, among several other household applications.

The moniker “WD-40” originates from Norman Larsen, who developed the spray in 1953. It signifies “Water Displacement, 40th formula”, highlighting both its fundamental features and the numerous trials Norman undertook to ultimately achieve the ideal formula.

Norman, the founder of the Rocket Chemical Company, developed WD-40 to prevent rust and corrosion on the delicate balloon tanks of the Atlas missile in storage. As time passed, WD-40 revealed a myriad of domestic applications and was made available to the public in 1958.
