Surfskating
What Are Surfskates?
Surfskates, also referred to as surf skateboards, are boards designed to let you "surf" on hard surfaces. They aim to deliver the most authentic surf feeling to the streets, allowing both advanced and beginner surfers to practice surf movements. Surfskating is enjoyable for all skill levels, though it requires a bit more practice compared to skateboarding and longboarding.
How Do Surfskates Work?
Surf skateboards provide a significantly different riding experience compared to traditional skateboards and longboards. They feature a special truck on the front of the board equipped with a surf skate adapter. This enhances the turning capability of the surfskate, allowing for a broader range of motion and tighter, smoother turns.
Due to this design, you can pump along the road with a surfskate without needing to put your foot down. If you have surfing experience, you'll find that the sensation is akin to being on the water, and using a surfskate can serve as valuable practice for surfing.
Choosing the Right Surfskate for You
Selecting the appropriate surfskate depends on your height, weight, and experience. Generally, the taller and heavier you are, the longer your surfskate should be. If you're new to surfskating and have limited experience with skateboarding or longboarding, a longer board will offer more control and stability. Experienced skaters and those training for the waves might opt for a board that requires more precise balance.
