Do Cruiser Boards Need Griptape?

Yes! Complete cruiser boards typically come with griptape to help you maintain control while riding around town. However, cruiser griptape will degrade over time. If you notice the griptape losing its stickiness, it’s time to replace it. Although griptape for cruiser boards is usually black, opting for new tape with colorful designs or a branded logo is a great way to personalize your board’s appearance.

For pennyboards, the waffle design on the top of the board generally provides sufficient grip, so tape isn’t necessary. However, if you want to ensure maximum grip or simply want to customize your board’s look, you can certainly apply some pennyboard griptape.
