What Is Roller Skating?
Roller Skating, also known as quad skating, is a recreational or competitive activity where participants glide over rinks or smooth surfaces using specialized boots fitted with four wheels. Roller skating can also be done on streets, sidewalks, and bike paths. As a sport, it includes several disciplines such as speed skating, figure skating, and rhythm skating.
Participants use roller skates, which are special boots featuring two wheels at the front and two at the back, arranged in pairs similar to skateboard wheels. The skates vary in shape and size based on the discipline. Quad skates typically have vivid and bright colors with a toe stop mounted at the front of the boot.
