Complete Cruiser Skateboards: Nimble and Swift
Cruiser skateboards, often known as mini longboard cruisers and retro skateboards, are compact and convenient boards. Their main aim is to offer ease and an enjoyable cruising experience.
In terms of the riding sensation, cruiser boards are similar to longboards, although they frequently feature shorter decks and smaller wheels. These boards are highly agile and responsive, perfectly suited for city cruising and commuting to work or school.
Typically, there are two varieties of cruisers: wooden cruiser boards and plastic cruiser boards. Should you be interested in a plastic cruiser board, explore our range of Penny Boards & Plastic Cruiser Skateboards.
Cruiser Skateboards Compared to Regular Skateboards
Cruiser skateboards blend the characteristics of skateboards and longboards, and are usually not larger than standard skateboards. Their design often draws inspiration from the retro skateboard styles of the 1970s.
While you may come across a super retro board with a completely flat deck design, most cruiser board decks come with a kicktail or double-kicktail, akin to skateboard decks. However, unlike skateboards, cruiser decks often have a directional shape. Additionally, cruiser boards are equipped with larger and taller trucks than those found on regular skateboards.
The wheels on cruiser boards are typically larger and softer, offering excellent grip, speed, and a smooth ride. Their bushings are also notably flexible, making these boards easier to navigate and steer compared to skateboards.
Are Cruiser Skateboards Suitable for Tricks?
Cruiser boards are crafted for navigating urban landscapes and leisurely cruising. Nonetheless, performing simple tricks with cruiser skateboards is possible. It's easier to execute tricks with cruisers that resemble skateboard shapes. A kicktail design is particularly beneficial for tricks such as an ollie.
However, due to the heavier build and larger wheels, executing tricks is more challenging. The extra weight makes it tougher to flip the board and lift it off the ground. Also, there is less air-time, and the board responds more slowly.
If your primary focus is on tricks and stunts, modern skateboarding might be more suitable for you. Take a look at our selection of Complete Skateboards to see if a skateboard better matches your style.
