Longboards Risers & Longboard Shock Pads
How Do Longboard Risers Function?
Longboard riser pads, commonly known as risers, are small pieces of plastic fit between your longboard deck and truck, elevating the board to help avert wheelbite.
Riser pads come in two varieties: flat, rectangular risers, or angled, wedge risers. Flat risers are the typical design and come in several thicknesses. Angled risers not only lift your deck height but also modify the angle of the kingpin and the pivot point, which enhances the turnability at the front of the board.
Are Shock Pads Necessary on a Longboard?
Though longboard shock pads also increase the deck's height, their main purpose is to dampen vibrations, providing a smoother ride. This added layer of protection is especially beneficial when riding on bumpy surfaces, as it helps to safeguard your deck.
Keep in mind that if you decide to use riser or shock pads, you must ensure your bolts are sufficiently long to accommodate the new setup. Refer to our Bolts & Riser Pads Guide for further details. Should you require new hardware, visit our Nuts & Bolts for Longboards page.
