Adult Scooters – Efficient, Enjoyable, and Perfect for Teens & Adults
Discover adult scooters for various needs here. Our aim is to present a range of premium scooters from reliable manufacturers, ensuring the best choices across all price brackets.
Adult scooters, also referred to as commuter scooters, cater to adults seeking a practical, swift, and enjoyable mode of transportation.
With a capacity to support individuals weighing up to 100 kg (or 220 lbs), and some models even accommodating more weight, these scooters are ideal whether you are commuting or joining your children for a park ride. If you're an adult in search of a scooter, you've arrived at the right destination.
What Defines an Adult Scooter?
Adult scooters are crafted as safe and practical transport solutions for adults. They are larger than pro scooters and maintain a minimal weight while being sturdy enough to support an adult's weight.
Standard features of adult scooters comprise:
- Handlebars that can be adjusted, catering to teens and adults
- Folding capability for easy transportation and storage
- Large wheels, with diameters reaching 200 mm or more
- Durable and lightweight design
Benefits of Foldable Scooters
Ideal for daily activities, foldable scooters offer significant practicality. Collapsing the scooter allows for compact storage when not in use. They're convenient to take on public transport or to tuck away in limited spaces, like a car boot.
The folding mechanisms on contemporary scooters are dependable and user-friendly, often employing a quick-release locking pin. No tools are needed to use the folding mechanism.
Foldable vs. Non-Foldable Scooters
Your decision between a foldable or non-foldable scooter should reflect what you value most:
- Foldable scooters prioritise portability and are easy to carry.
- Non-foldable scooters prioritise stability, durability, and are suited to longer distances.
Our selection includes both foldable and non-foldable adult scooters. All are safe and robust, though foldable scooters may have a potential weakness at the folding point, which is absent in non-foldable models.
A non-foldable scooter may suit those planning extended rides or traversing difficult terrain. Nevertheless, a folding mechanism is an excellent feature for easily collapsing and transporting the scooter, enhancing storage convenience.
Which Scooter Size is Right for Me?
Gauge the distance from the ground to where you comfortably hold the handlebars while riding. The ideal handlebar height should be between your hips and navel. Add 5 cm to accommodate the space between the deck top and the ground.
Look at the total height specification of your chosen scooter model. This refers to the distance from the ground to the handlebar's top. For scooters with adjustable handlebars, the total height is specified as a range; the lower figure marks the minimum and the higher signifies the maximum height.
Do Adult Scooters Offer Hand Brakes?
While not all adult scooters come with hand brakes, all feature a rear fender brake. On a scooter, speed can be reduced through the fender brake, a hand brake (if available), or by placing a foot on the ground to create friction. Although using a foot to slow down feels natural, it wears out shoe soles. Opting for a scooter with reliable fender brakes or a handbrake, or both, is advantageous if you commute.
Hand brakes offer quick and controlled stopping power. They enhance safety in traffic for commuter scooters and provide responsive speed control. Though not essential, we strongly advise them for commuting scenarios.
