Skate Pro staff feature in Photographic Exhibition

Read entire post: Skate Pro staff feature in Photographic Exhibition

Earlier in the year we received a call at Skate Pro from our friend Stacey at Rollergirl Promotions asking if we would be interested in doing a photoshoot for the NSW Department of Family and Community Services.

The Department was reviewing their ageing strategy and wanted to highlight the variety of activities older Australians are involved in, being over 50 and active made us good candidates and we jumped at the opportunity to get out there and do a few skate moves.

The Art of Ageing exhibition is a series of photographs and stories that celebrate the lives of older people living in NSW. It aims to challenge perceptions of ageing.

The photographs are the works of Louise Hawson (www.52suburbs.com) who has been documenting the lives of older people as part of the renewed NSW Ageing Strategy.

The exhibition runs this weekend; Friday 21st October – Sunday 23rd October at the Sydney Town Hall.

Cheers

Andrew

H.A.R.D. 5x5 Roller Derby Stall

Read entire post: H.A.R.D. 5x5 Roller Derby Stall

We'd like to thank the Hawkesbury and Hills Area Roller Derby (H.A.R.D) for inviting us to have a stall at their recent 5x5 competion which was held at Hawkesbury Basketball Stadium last weekend.

It was our first time setting at a stall at a Derby Competition and not knowing what to expect we brought along a fair bit of stock. I acted as pack-horse carrying the gear, and packing/unpacking the car as well as helping set-up.

While Debbie took the lead in looking after the stall, I spent much of my time watching the bouts which were quite exciting, with at least one bout not being decided until the last couple of jams.

We had a great time and look forward to setting up stalls at future competitions although for the sake of our waists perhaps not directly opposite the cake stall in future.
